Whitemud Resources' mineral leases are large enough to run the production facility many years. The mine and processing facility at Wood Mountain are located near Assiniboia in Southern Saskatchewan, which is 225 kilometres southwest of Regina and 55 kilometres north of the Opheim-West Poplar U.S. border crossing.
The facility design, quality assurance and control systems, combined with our selective mining and processing operations, allow Whitemud to produce a consistent, high quality product upon which our clients can rely. With the added benefit of having a 20,000+ tonne storage dome, customers can be confident that EnviroPozz™ will be available when they need it.
Centrally located, Whitemud Resources' facility is positioned well to serve markets through-out Canada and the U.S.
The overburden stripped from the quarry is stockpiled and designated to be reused in the reclamation plan, which ensures the mine site is progressively restored to natural conditions in a continuous fashion.
Whitemud Resources kaolin deposit is easily accessible and amenable to open pit mining. We use an innovative, patented, dry mining strategy and separation process to manufacture EnviroPozz™.
We have strict quality control and environmental protection measures in place to ensure that our product provides the highest level of performance, while leaving behind the smallest possible footprint. To guarantee product consistency, each step of the process is rigorously monitored through continuous sampling, lab analysis and tight process control.
Kaolinized sand is extracted from the quarry and transported by truck to the crushing system. It is reduced in size and separated into piles of different grades. The ore is then moved through automated feeders to insure consistent Kaolin concentrations.
The reclaimed material is conveyed through a rotary dryer to separate the Kaolin from the sand. Both the sand and the dry Kaolin are stored in individual silos. Sand and Kaolin are then available for sales to customers or further processing.
Dry Kaolin is fed into a rotary dryer and transformed into Metakaolin through dehydroxylation at temperatures up to 850°C. Finished product is then cooled and conveyed to the storage area.
Finished Metakaolin is stored in the 20,000+ tonne dome, then transferred to either the packaging equipment or truck load-out bins. From there it is transported directly to client storage or to our rail terminal for shipment.
For shipment by rail, Whitemud utilizes our dedicated rail terminal where the EnviroPozz™ is loaded onto rail cars to complete the distribution process.
